Carolina For The Kids plans for 25th annual dance marathon

Later this month, hundreds of students will spend their Saturday dancing for a cause. This year, Carolina For The Kids is celebrating their 25th annual Dance Marathon.  CFTK is the largest student-led nonprofit in North Carolina whose purpose is to help with childrens’ medical bills. They help with multiple fees, including meal distributions, pediatric playroom staffing and helping families pay for medical equipment, gas, and electricity bills.

'Collective dreaming:' Campus Y leaders reflect on leadership and activism

The Campus Y has been a home for student activists at UNC since the 1860s. Today, approximately 30 student-run committees dedicated to various aspects of social justice operate out of the Y. Current Co-presidents Laura Saavedro Forero and Megan Murphy have emphasized campus accessibility, support of local workers and student-led mutual aid.   "I think people feel more so like humans and individuals and friends, before feeling like organizers and activists and all of that, which was definitely a goal of ours," Saavedra Forero said.
