Thousands of writers participate in National Novel Writing Month every November, aiming to complete 50,000-word drafts of a specific project. The Wake-Orange-Durham counties NaNoWriMo group hosted a kickoff event at Chapel Hill Public Library on Oct. 29, and UNC’s Back Page creative writing club is encouraging members to take on the task.
The most recent rodeo was Halloween-themed and featured food trucks from a variety of cuisines across Central and South America, the Caribbean, Africa, Asia, Europe and the U.S.
Student theater group Company Carolina put on "Lord of the Flies" this weekend in the Forest Theatre.
UNC junior Victoria Wlosok released her debut novel, young adult sapphic thriller "How to Find a Missing Girl." The book follows Iris Blackthorn, a 17-year-old amateur detective, leading her friends on a quest to solve the disappearances of her older sister and her ex-girlfriend before she turns 18.
