The town council also approved a conditional zoning application regarding the Chapel Hill Life Sciences Center at 306 W. Franklin St., with only council member Adam Searing voting in opposition.
The CHAMPion, or Celebrating Heroes and Magnificent People, program is a partnership between Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools and the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Public School Foundation that recognizes outstanding students, staff and community members for their work and contributions to the district.
Gov. Roy Cooper will present six recipients with the North Carolina Award, the state’s highest civilian honor, on Nov. 9 for their contributions to the state and nation. One of the recipients is familiar to Chapel Hill — David Price.
The organization hosts training programs, travel events, picnics, socials, Pride events and voter education support. Celebrating Out and Proud, an event celebrating National Coming Out Day, will be held on Oct. 24 from 6-8 p.m. at the Seymour Center, and co-hosted by the Orange County Department on Aging.
Take a Child Outside was founded as a website in 2007. It was inspired by author Richard Louv’s 2005 book Last Child in the Woods, which calls attention to today's youth spending less time outdoors than previous generations.
