The Daily Tar Heel

Thank you for notifying readers of our last fundraising event, Fight Gone Bad. It was a great success, with our gym alone raising $5,371. We even had students from CrossFit UNC attend.

CrossFit Local is joining Mammograms In Action, a California based non-profit, in organizing the second annual “Amazing Grace — Lifting Barbells for Boobs” event to raise funds for the fight against breast cancer.

CrossFit Local, located in Chapel Hill, N.C., will be participating in this year’s competition, alongside CrossFit Henderson, CrossFit Carrboro, 21 Fitness and CrossFit UNC.

The fundraiser is a fun, competitive event involving all levels of fitness. It is a perfect fit for CrossFit in general as it shows a broad dedication to the community’s overall health while remaining open and inclusive of people with any athletic ability. Everyone is welcome to participate with us.

CrossFit Local is committed to working with its local community to improve fitness levels of the entire family. We are proud and excited to be a part of the Mammograms In Action fundraiser.

This year, CrossFit affiliates worldwide will be hosting events throughout the entire month of October to coincide with breast cancer awareness month.

CrossFit Local will be holding the “Barbells for Boobs” event on Saturday, October 9, 2010 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the Home Depot parking lot in Hillsborough, beside the farmer’s market.

Individuals interested in participating in the fundraiser can register directly at www.barbellsforboobs.org or visit www.crossfitlocal.com for more information.
