Tar Heels beat No. 10 Kentucky

UNC win 75-73 down the stretch

Tyler Zeller scored a career-high 27 points and grabbed 11 rebounds while going 6-for-6 on free throws in the closing minutes of the game to help North Carolina beat Kentucky 75-73 on Saturday at the Smith Center.

Zeller played 30 minutes and went 8-for-13 from the field, including 11-for-12 from the line. Fellow big man John Henson had 13 points and 12 rebounds but saw limited time in the second half because of his struggles at the free throw line.

Doron Lamb paced the Wildcats with 24 points while Brandon Knight had 15 points. Four Wildcats fouled out during the game, including three post players.

UNC hit nine out of 10 free throws in the final 1:21 of the game to maintain the slim lead.

The Tar Heels move to 5-3 on the season and will travel to Evansville on Wednesday.
