2022-23 Graduate and Professional Student Government President Theodore Nollert announced his candidacy for Chapel Hill Town Council in a press release this morning.

"I’m running for Town Council because Chapel Hill can and should be a diverse, inclusive place where workers can afford to live," he said in the press release. "I want to ensure that our Town is a great place to live not just today, but tomorrow, too.”

Nollert is an English and comparative literature Ph.D. student at UNC and currently serves on Chapel Hill's Planning Commission.

He said in the press release that building more affordable housing, diversifying Chapel Hill's existing housing stock and prioritizing greenways and non-car-centric types of transportation are high priorities in his run for council.

“We have a tremendous opportunity in this election to say yes to prosperity and to say yes to an inclusive, sustainable future,” Nollert said in the press release.
