Happy Tuesday, UNC! Here's the news:

QUICK HITS

  • The Carolina Veterans Resource Center opened on Sept. 28 after years of input from the people it serves.
  • “One of the last things you want to worry about when you’re trying to better yourself is not having those clothes.” Carolina Closet is bringing business casual and business formal attire to the basement of Avery Residence Hall for free.

STATE OF THE STATE

  • Western Carolina University professor Beverly Collins can't leaf this season alone: her job involves predicting what color the leaves will be during fall in North Carolina. Read her predictions for the year (and what it means for tourism) here.
  • Infosys is set to open a North Carolina Technology and Innovation Hub in Raleigh. They're planning to hire 2,000 American workers by 2021, including UNC students.

STATE OF THE CITY

  • "It really is strange that people who believe so passionately in preserving that heritage don’t consider places like the museum are worthy of support." The Orange County Historical Museum may only be able to stay open for the next two years due to financial struggles.
  • Mayors of Chapel Hill and Carrboro named the last week of September Diaper Need Awareness Week to highlight a lack of diaper access for impoverished communities.
  • An Amtrak fatality and $1,000 worth of theft from Target made headlines in today's crime roundup.
