Ways to Procrastinate

With all of this talk about being productive and getting work done, I have to be realistic and say that even with my best intentions I still procrastinate (a lot). I would go so far as to say I am an expert at procrastination. By far the best method to waste time is surfing the internet. Heck, you might be reading this blog right now to procrastinate. I wanted to share some of my favorite websites in case you needed some more help not getting anything done. My mom would be so proud.

Humor:
Texts from last night- A classic website revolving around the crazy drink or drug induced haze that has the uncanny ability to produce brilliant, and many times incomprehensible text messages. Like the saying goes, bad decisions make good stories, or in this case, good texts to read the morning after.

FM Life- As stressed out college students, we often feel that our lives suck and all we do is eat, go to class, study, sleep, and repeat. FML helps me feel better because it makes me realize that other people’s lives are worse off than mine. It is actually quite pathetically funny.

When parents text-- My parents think that texting me is much less intrusive and annoying than calling me and chatting for 27 minutes about absolutely nothing, so I find whenparentstext.com very fitting. The amount of over-share parents engage in and the goofiness when they try to type as “kids our age,” do is quite humorous. One of my dad and I’s conversations got published once, no big deal.

Damn you autocorrect- People keep snatching up the new versions of iPhones, making autocorrect an epidemic. The accidental sexual autocorrect that you send to your boss can be embarrassing, or even potentially have you fired for sexual harassment. My only warning is to not read this site in the library because you might disturb others with your excessive laughing.

Visual:
Pintrest- My new obsession, Pintrest, is a tool to organize all the great stuff you find on the web into one place. From finding workouts to do, recipes to make, or new ways to decorate my apartment, I can spend hours on Pintrest.

Tumblr- there are too many blogs that I love, I will just send you to tumblr to discover your own. It never fails to fascinate me to hear about stranger’s intimate life details and find new desktop backgrounds.

Miscellaneous:
Stumble upon perfect mixture of funny videos, blogs, cute animal pictures, recipes or whatever else you are interested in is customizable, so you can hone in on what will really help you avoid writing that paper due tomorrow morning.

College town life- A website created for us! How-tos, drinking games, relationship advice, this site really has it all, kind of like connecting the dots from partying to texts from last night.

Post secret- The original, inspiring and heart-wrenching website that publishes anonymous post cards that contain someone’s deepest secret that he or she has never told. New postcards are put up every Sunday, and I look forward to it as much as I do the kvetching board on Fridays. Postsecret is a supportive community that might even embolden you to share your deepest secret.

Warning: I am not responsible for wasting five hours of your life in front on the computer every day, which in turn will cause you to fail out of school.
