Daily Tar Heel staff writer Shantan Krovvidi sat down with Samuel Garrett, a retired Chapel Hill resident, for Town Talk’s weekly Humans of Chapel Hill feature.

What has been the happiest moment of your life so far?

When I got these glasses. Ever since I've been growing up I've had eye problems and so I was finally able to find a doctor that was able to give me glasses for looking down the road.

What has been the saddest moment of your life so far?

I guess after my mamma died. Your parents are not only your parents but can also be your friends too. So when she died I felt like I lost both of 'em.

What's your biggest struggle right now?

Well I don't have any struggles right now cause I'm retired. I mean you could always have more money. I'm living pretty much comfortably so that's about it for that.

How long have you been retired?

I retired in '99. So 16 this year.

What's your favorite place in Chapel Hill?

Well I don't know. I can't say that I have a favorite place because as far as I know all of them are pretty good.
