With only the goalkeeper between her and the back of the net, Texas Tech forward Alex Kerr had her eyes on an equalizer. But UNC first-year defender Savy King, as was the case all match, was up to the challenge. With lightning-fast recovery speed, she closed down Kerr’s space and forced her shot high and wide.

Behind yet another match-winning performance from redshirt sophomore forward Ally Sentnor, the third-seeded UNC women’s soccer team (12-1-8, 5-0-5 ACC) advanced to the third round of the NCAA Tournament, defeating six-seed Alabama (12-5-5, 5-4-1 SEC), 1-0, Friday at John Walker Soccer Complex in Lubbock, Texas. Sentnor has now scored the game-winner in both of the Tar Heels NCAA Tournament games this season.

After losing its first match of the season in the first round of the ACC Tournament, the third-seeded North Carolina women’s soccer team (11-1-8, 5-0-5 ACC) bounced back to defeat CAA champion Towson (15-3-2, 9-1-2 CAA) 3-1 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament Friday night at Dorrance Field.

After completing the regular season unbeaten for the first time since 2004, the fourth-seeded No. 3 North Carolina women’s soccer team (10-1-8, 5-1-5 ACC) suffered its first loss and saw its quest for a 23rd ACC Tournament title come to an end against five seed No. 20 Pittsburgh (14-4-1, 7-2-1 ACC) in a 2-1 extra time loss in the first round Sunday night at Dorrance Field.

After trailing at halftime, the No. 12 North Carolina Football (6-0, 3-0 ACC) team dominated the third quarter in all phases en route to a 41-31 victory over No. 25 Miami (4-2, 0-2 ACC). The win was the Tar Heels' fifth straight victory over the Hurricanes.
Junior wide receiver Tez Walker and sophomore running back Omarion Hampton spearheaded the UNC offense. Walker caught six passes for 132 yards and three touchdowns, while Hampton added 197 yards on the ground. Senior linebacker Cedric Gray was all over the field for the Tar Heels defense, recording 10 tackles to go along with an interception and fumble recovery.
