On the flip side, the Tar Heels have been beating the teams they’re supposed to, boasting a 17-0 record against teams that currently have a lower winning percentage than them. Treating Miami the same won’t be an easy task, however, as this is a team that tends to play it’s best against elite teams, breeding an upset watch if the Tar Heels aren’t careful.

Midseason report card: How UNC women's basketball team has fared thus far

Most preseason rankings had North Carolina well out of the top-25, so accomplishing this success early on after all of the doubt is nothing short of impressive. However, despite its early success, the team has lost three of its last five conference games.  With that being said, let's see how some of the individual efforts have impacted the team’s successes this season thus far.

Eva Hodgson’s 19 points propel UNC women's basketball to bounce back win over Virginia Tech

Eva Hodgson finished Sunday's game with a season high 19 points, leading the Tar Heels to a 71-46 victory over Virginia Tech. The redshirt junior guard's signature moment in the game came in the third quarter, where she knocked down two three-pointers in 50 seconds to spark an 8-0 run and increase the Tar Heels’ lead to 30 points. “She wills the team along," head coach Courtney Banghart said. "So, as much as her numbers spoke for themselves, her impact on this team is even bigger.”
