In three seasons with the Cyclones, transfer guard Lexi Donarski averaged 13.2 points, shot 36.4 percent from three and earned 2022 Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year honors.

“[We’re] just devastated,” quarterback Drake Maye said. “We work so hard, we love each other, we’re playing for each other — it’s all we got. It felt like we had something good going. Still got a lot to play for, you never know what can happen.”
The North Carolina football team has now lost back-to-back games that it was heavily favored to win.
“Sometimes the ball doesn’t bounce your way,” head coach Hubert Davis said. “But you gotta make it bounce your way. By the energy, the effort and attention to detail. I feel like we have a group that values those things every day and consistently practices that [so that] it can translate in a game.”
The embarrassing home loss, which saw the Cavaliers outscore the 23.5-point favored Tar Heels, 17-3, in the final 20 minutes, all but confirmed that North Carolina was never meant to contend for a national title this year. But depending on how quickly UNC can regroup, the season isn’t a lost cause (yet).
Virginia entered the matchup with the worst scoring offense and defense in the ACC, but neither statistic seemed to matter in this tightly contested bout.
