French, Peters Crowned as UNC Royalty
By emp Baldwin | November 4A deteriorating crowd exclaimed its loudest cheers at Saturday's Homecoming game versus Maryland when Berry French and Susan Peters were crowned king and queen at halftime. "I really appreciate the people sticking around through that first half and getting rowdy during the ceremony," said French, who was sponsored by the Campus Y. French won with 2,003 votes, 60 percent of the vote, and Peters won queen with 40 percent of the vote, a total of 1,252. In the queen race, runner-up Rhonda Patterson received 1,165 votes while Margaret Young got 703.
