The ACC's plans for the 2020 season allowed North Carolina to schedule UNC-Charlotte as a new non-conference opponent on Sept. 19, but there are still question marks surrounding the four contracts it had with its planned non-conference opponents.
Coaches and staff members making $200,000 or more will have their salaries reduced by 20 percent. Coaches and staff members making $100,000 to $200,000 will have their salaries reduced by 10 percent. Coaches and staff members who make less than $100,000 will be furloughed for 15 days.
The athletics department "will continue to work with medical experts and the University to evaluate safety conditions with the hope that we can increase capacity in October," Director of Athletics Bubba Cunningham said in a statement.
“The student-athletes don’t have to agree with the athletic department every time they make a statement," Steve Kirschner, senior associate athletic director for communications at UNC, said.

NCAA President Mark Emmert announced Thursday evening that the NCAA is canceling all 2020 Division I fall championships. This announcement comes eight days after the Division II Presidents Council and Division III Presidents Council each canceled their respective fall championships. The NCAA will attempt to have the championships in the spring. Fall sports teams will still be allowed to participate in a regular season schedule, but they will not have a chance to win a national title.
“There’s a lot of macho in young people and young men in college football, and they don’t want their buddy making fun of them,” UNC football head coach Mack Brown said. “We have said, ‘This is real. This is real stuff. If you are uncomfortable at all or anxious, if you want to miss workouts, if you don’t want to play, let’s do it.’”
