Goalkeeper helps secure UNC win against ODU

A bug kept Logan Ripley from practicing Tuesday but she didn't look much worse for the ware in Wednesday's matchup with Old Dominion. The junior goalkeeper stopped eight ODU shots and altered numerous others helping the No. 9 North Carolina women's lacrosse team cruise to a 16-9 victory Wednesday afternoon.

UNC swimmers hit the lanes

You don't often see a top collegiate athlete request a redshirt season — especially an athlete on the verge of establishing himself as one of the nation's best. But that's exactly what sophomore swimmer Chip Peterson did last fall. He opted to take a year off from the pool in order to train for May's Open Water World Swimming Championships in Seville Spain where a top-10 finish in the 10K race would grant Peterson an Olympic berth.

Swimmers aim for improved conference play

The North Carolina swimming and diving teams made their official returns to the pool this weekend marking the culmination of what has been an unusual off-season for the Tar Heels. The temporary closure of Koury Natatorium early in the school year forced the team to adopt a limited practice schedule in preparing for the season.
