Commissioners discuss SAPFO

At a work session Monday, the Orange County Board of Commissioners discussed the Schools Adequate Public Facilities Ordinance and the timeline for its implementation. SAPFO is a cooperative effort to pace development of school facilities with expected population growth. Alice Gordon, Orange County commissioner and the chairwoman of the Schools and Land Use councils, crafted the ordinance. Gordon said she is optimistic about the eventual passage of the ordinance. "I think the board is generally positive, but there might be specific questions (about the ordinance)," she said.

Orange Co. Schools Seek Local Input

A small audience assembled Monday night in the Orange High School auditorium for a public forum held to gather community input on the superintendent search for Orange County schools. Dana Thompson, chairwoman of the Orange County Board of Education, said that the board has been accepting applications for the superintendent position for five weeks and that the deadline is Friday.
