Former fine dining restaurant Provence to reopen as Mosaic Café & Bistro in Carrboro

Provence of Carrboro is reopening as Mosaic Café & Bistro, a change helmed by chef and owner Baptist Knaven. “We’ve always loved Provence and the French fine dining concept, but we realized it was not the right restaurant for the community,” General Manager Brian Cansler said. “We wanted to do something that was more local, sustainable and affordable for the people in our community.”

Column: New 'Mortal Kombat' film adapts the games faithfully

When you think of Mortal Kombat, what comes to mind for many are the grotesque fatalities that made the series famous. Now adapted as a film once again, the movie shows a series of battles in the infamous tournament. From Sub-Zero to Scorpion, the film takes views on a nostalgic ride as if they were in front of their screens playing their friends.

Rajiv Mohabir reads century-old poetry, now translated, to mark Holi

"Rajiv Mohabir sharing these poems educated more people about what Holi is and the history behind it," Shivam Bhargava said. "It's very easy to celebrate Holi without understanding the cultural and religious significance behind it, but Rajiv's poems add historical and cultural context to the celebration so that more people know what they are celebrating."
