Bill Helps State Prepare For Bioterror

The N.C. General Assembly recently gave the director of the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services total power to mandate a 10-day quarantine in the event of a threat of a bioterrorist attack. N.C. Rep. Philip Baddour, D-Wayne, said that although state health officials always have had authority to deal with bioterrorist attacks, the bill gives them the additional oversight necessary to properly deal with such a situation.
