The Daily Tar Heel

Dexter Strickland has been playing on a faulty knee for the past few weeks, UNC coach Roy Williams said at a press conference Wednesday.

Several weeks ago, Strickland was faced with the decision to either go through surgery to repair the unspecified problem in his knee and miss the remainder of the season or wait until the season ended to have the surgery. Strickland elected to play out the season. Doctors said playing the rest of the season would not negatively affect the injury.

Strickland has started every game this season, and since Larry Drew left the program, has been entrusted with backup point guard duties. In those 10 games, Strickland has averaged 6.3 points and 3.1 assists per game.
