DTH at a Glance: Coming for your airpods

Good morning! With just two short days until I get to stop caring about this week and one day until UNC faces off against The Enemy in Cameron Stadium, our sports desk is breaking down three key takeaways from yesterday's press conference with the men's basketball team. Among other things, Roy described Duke fans these days as less "intimidating" and more "sort of cute."

Joel Berry also told reporters he doesn't like Grayson Allen's reputation for being a tripper because they used to be teammates back in the day.

You know, in the same way I used to be Taylor Swift's fan, or a person who had faith in democracy.

QUICK HITS

  • The U.S. Senate confirmed Betsy DeVos as Secretary of Education in a 51-50 vote with Mike Pence. Because of course it did.
  • UNC students and organizations are rounding up folks' excess bottled water bought during the OWASAlypse to donate to people in need.
  • Courtney Staton and Alexander Peeples have been announced as the next co-presidents of the Campus Y. They'll serve for the 2017-18 school year.

IN DAILY CRIME

A person was reported for stealing someone's iPhone 5S and pair of airpods on West Franklin Street. Which is honestly what you get for actually having airpods.

IN SELECTIVE FREEDOM

Recent protests and legislation at UC-Berkeley have reignited debate about free speech on college campuses. Special shoutout to N.C. Lt. Gov. Dan Forest's proposal last year to discipline people who interrupted the free expression of others.

IN SCANDAL

Student Congress discussed impeachment proceedings against Board of Elections chairperson Paul Kushner. The move follows an overturned decision from the Board of Elections to disqualify SBP candidate Joe Nail because of a student body version of a presidential email scandal. Which makes Kushner the UNC Comey, I guess? I don't know; this metaphor is half-baked.

IN THE MAGAZINES

A brand new issue of UNC's fashion magazine Coulture is on the racks, and its front cover is a coloring book. Which, like, we did back in December, but it's still cool.

IN SPONSORED CONTENT

Folks from Carolina Brewery sat down to talk with us about its 22nd birthday, how they choose what to put on tap and why craft beers do it better. Fun fact: Hops are (apparently flowers? and) used to change the "sweet and dull" taste beer would have otherwise.
