Show not a drag

Glitter, push-up bras and flying dollar bills filled the stage of the Great Hall on Tuesday night. The excited chatter of the hundreds of students ceased as the lights went down and the curtain flew open. The third semi-annual drag show became a showcase of gender-bending as each act took to the stage. Participants included professionals as well as student amateurs to maintain a UNC focus. An amateur competition was held following the intermission although no winner was declared.

Chabay looks to spread passion

Ilan Chabay's dream of developing a hands-on science learning experience to create a desire for learning came to fruition in 1983. Twenty years later, Chabay is looking toward a new opportunity at UNC for sharing his passion for science. He presented his vision for the Morehead Planetarium and Science Center to nearly 50 campus community members Thursday afternoon at the first of the candidate forums for a new director. Chabay, one of four individuals vying for the director position, discussed the role of science within an informal educational setting.

School unites for Habitat

Several hundred Kenan-Flagler Business School students and faculty members traded their textbooks for tools at the kickoff celebration for the Habitat for Humanity project Monday afternoon. The event sought to bring volunteers from all areas of the school to join in an effort to better the Orange County community. The project, which will run from Oct. 15 to Dec. 17, marks the first time a single department or school from UNC has taken on the sponsorship of an entire Habitat house.
