UNC men's lacrosse's season on final leg after overtime loss, 13-12, No. 6 Syracuse

The North Carolina men’s lacrosse team was on the verge of a much-needed win on Saturday, but instead, it suffered another stinging defeat — this time, a 13-12 overtime loss at No. 6 Syracuse.  The Tar Heels (6-7, 0-3 ACC) held a three-goal advantage with just under four and half minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, but they allowed the Orange (7-4, 4-0 ACC) to score three consecutive goals to force a sudden-death overtime, which they later won on a goal by Brendan Bomberry.

The pressure that student-athletes face can be detrimental to their mental health.

When injury strikes, players lose more than a team

Student-athletes at face extreme pressure on and off the field. When some athletes can't compete anymore, mental health takes a toll and their grades can suffer. Some students who used to be athletes at UNC offer testimonials of their experiences after disaster struck and they found themselves in a position they never thought they would be in.

UNC rowing uses focus, confidence in guiding its way to a win-filled weekend

This past weekend, the UNC rowing team had a strong showing at the Sunshine State Invitational in Sarasota, Florida. Competing against seven other schools, including conference foes Clemson and Miami in the 2,000-meter events, the Tar Heels earned gold in the 3V8 race and placed second in two other fixtures. As the end of the season draws near, the team has a goal of coming in sixth place in this year's ACC Championship - which is certainly a possibility, having beaten both Clemson and Miami in competitions over the weekend.
