DTH at a Glance

You might be a millennial if...

...you are between the ages of 18 and 34 and you're not sure what to call yourself. Is it millennial? Generation Y? Snake person?

...you hope to someday be more powerful than BeyoncĂ©, busier than James Franco or as relatable as "Clueless."

...you love Taylor Swift so much it confuses and excites you, and while growing up, your emotions rose and fell with Lindsay Lohan's success.

...you're selfie-obsessed and cellphone-prone and you're getting tired of these stupid puns because I sound like your dad.

If you're not a millennial, I'm sorry. And I'm sorry to Jeff Foxworthy for sabotaging his bit with generational generalizations.

QUICK HITS

  • Chancellor Carol Folt announced that the University will create a task force to examine UNC history, starting with Carolina Hall and McCorkle Place.
  • Habitat for Humanity partnered with several organizations to dedicate a house in memory of Deah Shaddy Barakat, Yusor Mohammad Abu-Salha and Razan Mohammad Abu-Salha. It pays tribute to the work they did in their community rather than their deaths.
  • A professor at N.C. State University bans gender-exclusive language in her syllabus, and UNC's Writing Center revamped its gender inclusivity handout. It's a small step for humankind.

IN SPORTS NEWS

Wide receiver Bug Howard works hard. Really hard, even in the offseason. Harder than Jimmy Fallon when he's trying not to smile. UNC's loss to South Carolina last week was actually Howard's best game yet — he snagged six catches for 114 yards.

IN LOCAL NEWS

The Orange County Living Wage project, set to launch in October, aims to certify businesses that pay their employees a living wage. That's $12.75 per hour or $11.25 per hour with health insurance, according to the initiative. Right now, almost 40 percent of Orange County workers earn below that benchmark.

IN OUR OPINION

Sports editor Pat James explains why that last football game wasn't actually so bad. When facing South Carolina, UNC allowed only 17 points — the fewest surrendered since 2013. The defense did pretty well. So thank you, Pat, for being a beacon of hope in what was a murky season opener to the sports-illiterate like me.

IN THE BLOGS

Timeless treasure Alice Wilder gets real with us in this #sincere post about therapy and openly dealing with mental illness. Last night she forced me to leave the office for 10 minutes to sing a karaoke version of Kelly Clarkson's "Breakaway" at the bar next door. It was life-changing. I can confirm she is cool and you should follow her blindly wherever she leads.
