Pull Your Support for Boy Scouts
By Staff Editor | Jan. 26, 2001A few weeks ago, the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Board of Education voted to withdraw support from the local Boy Scouts. They found that since the Scouts' national policy doesn't "allow for the registration of avowed homosexuals as members or as leaders," they could no longer let troops meet on school grounds. You see, the school board includes sexual orientation as a part of its nondiscrimination policy.
