A homecoming in Cary: two UNC women's soccer redshirts reunite in 2-1 win over Duke

CARY — Three minutes into the golden goal overtime of the first game of the 2017 season, the No. 6 North Carolina women’s soccer team packed seven players into No. 12 Duke’s 18-yard box, with its best free kick-taker standing at the corner flag and one of its best finishers positioned near the far post.

North Carolina women's soccer team defeats Duke, 2-1, in overtime thriller

Redshirt junior Jessie Scarpa and redshirt senior Joanna Boyles — two Tar Heels who hadn’t played a regular season game for UNC since 2015 — connected on and finished off a cross just three minutes into overtime of Friday’s match to give the No. 6 North Carolina women’s soccer team a 2-1 win over No. 12 Duke.

Lindsey Harris saves the day for UNC women's soccer

In the North Carolina women’s soccer team’s 1-0 win over South Carolina in the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals Friday, redshirt senior goalkeeper Lindsey Harris broke the UNC record for saves in a season, finishing the game with 91 on the year.
