Police log for Oct. 2

Someone broke the window of a UNC student’s 2003 silver Toyota 4Runner between 9 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30 a.m. Wednesday while it was parked at 702 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., according to Chapel Hill police reports. The window damage was valued at $250, reports state.Someone stole from a Wilco at about 5:15 p.m. Wednesday at 1213 Martin Luther King Jr Blvd., according to Chapel Hill police reports. The person stole a total of $55 in items: three pairs of hats and gloves worth $21, five magazines worth $30, two bags of potato chips worth $2 and milk worth $2, reports state.

Police log for Sept. 29

Someone broke into a 2004 silver Volvo parked in a lot between 11 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. Sunday at 316 Rosemary St., according to Chapel Hill police reports. The person stole a backpack worth $60, a $50 calculator and $700 worth of textbooks. The person also did $200 worth of damage to the car, reports state.Someone broke into a 2001 burgundy PT Cruiser between 9:27 a.m. Sunday and 2:17 a.m. Monday at 1301 Fordham Boulevard, according to Chapel Hill police reports. The person stole a GPS worth $250 and did $200 worth of damage to the car.

Police log for Sept. 28

Someone committed an armed robbery at 10:37 p.m. Saturday at 504 Palafox Dr., according to Chapel Hill police reports. The suspect confronted a woman with a knife and stole her purse. The bag contained two check cards, three credit cards, one set of house keys, a driver’s license, one Coach wallet and $1,000 in cash, reports state. The total value of the stolen property was $1,570.05, reports state.

Two false alarms were set off at local schools Thursday by cleaning crews, according to Chapel Hill police reports. A cleaning crew at Chapel Hill High School set off an alarm at 12:10 a.m. Thursday, reports state. A cleaning crew at Smith Middle School set off an alarm at 1:08 a.m. Thursday, reports state.

Somebody took a garbage can from the street between 8 a.m. Sept. 14 and 11 a.m. Thursday in front of 233 Woodhaven Rd., according to Chapel Hill police reports. The garbage can is worth $200, reports state.Somebody stole a $135 beer keg from the back porch of 305 N. Columbia Street between 2 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday, according to Chapel Hill police reports.

Somebody entered an unlocked Chevy Silverado and took 50 cents in loose change before 8:44 p.m. Thursday, according to Chapel Hill police reports. The car was parked in a lot at 5623 Durham-Chapel Hill Blvd., reports state.A UNC student reported a peeping Tom at 7:30 a.m. Thursday at 426 W. Cameron Ave., according to Chapel Hill police reports.A 39-year-old Durham man with two knife scars on his right wrist was arrested for stealing Thursday at 3:29 p.m., according to Chapel Hill police reports. Willard Nevil Aitchison was released in lieu of $5,000 bail, reports state.

A 48-year-old man was arrested Monday for felony assault with a deadly weapon after giving a co-worker serious lacerations with a box cutter at 11:20 p.m. Friday at 140 E. Franklin St., according to Chapel Hill police reports. Simon Kennie Alston of Pittsboro worked with the victim at Swift Taxis, reports state. Alston was released on a $500 bond until his trial date Tuesday, reports state.

Somebody stole $3,200 of electronics between midnight and 2:30 a.m. Sunday from an apartment at 331 W. Rosemary St., according to Chapel Hill police reports. The person stole a $2,500 laptop computer, a $200 XBox system, a $200 XBox arcade, and a $300 iPod, reports state.Someone tried to break into a burgundy 1989 Honda Accord on Sunday at a parking lot on Umstead Drive, according to Chapel Hill police reports. The person caused $200 worth of damage while attempting to break in, reports state.
